3D TV

2010 – 2017

This failure in technology wasn’t for a lack of trying. Even though the movie Avatar sparked the beginning of the craze of in-home 3D, the film and television studios simply didn’t want to invest the money needed to create 3D content. The viewing public had pushback issues as well. Prolonged use had consumers complaining of eye strain, headaches, and nausea. In January 2017, CNET pronounced the tech marvel’s demise, saying, “It’s been a walking corpse for the last couple of years, and now 3D TV finally looks dead.”
