Orbitz – a unique soda

1997

When Orbitz soda was launched, it offered something unique and exciting: small edible balls. These balls were suspended in an advanced formula of gelling ingredients that created an invisible, microscopic spider web. The flavor combinations were also unusual, for example: pineapple-banana-coconut-cherry flavor. Although Orbitz was fascinating, sales did not really take off. The consistency confused consumers because it was both chewable and drinkable. Due to poor sales, the drink disappeared within a year. The Orbitz became a popular collector’s item drink, and an unsuccessful crowdfunded relaunch was made in 2013
