Plup – water bottle

2008

When Finland’s largest newspaper, Helsinki Sanomat, asked its readers for suggestions for the Museum of Failure, many suggested the Plup bottle. This water bottle was created by the famous Finnish designer Stefan Lindfors. The plan was that part of the proceeds for each sold bottle would be contributed to an environmental initiative to protect the Baltic Sea. How environmentally friendly is bottled water? Especially if the bottle itself could not be recycled (update: there seems to be conflicting info on this…). The innovatively designed water bottle that was supposed to help the environment ended up being environ-mentally unfriendly. It definitely belongs here at the Museum of Failure.
